Shannon du Plessis statement to City Council 10/20/16

Shannon du Plessis, on taking the grant, and not going with Aqua Texas (as Woodcreek did):

When we moved here in 2010, we were also warned not to move to Woodcreek.

You've heard a lot of facts, and I love facts, but I don't need to add to them. My comments are going to be a little more touchy-feely.

Water is vital and vital means necessary for life; not optional.

So when it comes to choices in my life that are vital, I turn to sources I can trust, which are typically my family and a few trusted close friends.

I don't outsource help from outsiders who may not have my best interests above their own desire to profit in some way.

I understand that if you accept the $1 million grant from the EDA that eliminates the option to outsource and that might seem a little bit scary, but I think this grant is the universe giving you a vote of confidence and saying, "let's go, let's do this."

I know it's not facts and I'm being touchy-feely, but that's kinda how I am. So let's keep it within the Wimberley family. I implore you to accept this vote of confidence from the universe and accept this $1 million grant.

I really think that the sewer system is gonna help the heart of Wimberley, which is The Square. I've heard what people have said about two classes of people, but I just wanna say that The Square does generate substantial sales revenue that does benefit all of us.

One final thing. This shirt (she was wearing that had the word "Wimberley") - they have them new, at the Visitor Center for sale - says, 'a little bit of heaven.' Please don't make this shirt a lie.

Thank you.
Shannon du Plessis
